If u have window xp installed on ur computer with 128 RAM it is better to disable services type 'serivces.mnc' in run press enter.Awindow pops up. From here u can start, stop, pause, restart a service.Start up
To disable list of start up program. Type 'msconfig' in run box. Disable all program.This prevents program from starting up automatically, thus giving u a boot up time.PREFETCH
Type 'prefetch' in the run box. Select all then delete them.

the simplest of switching between KDE AND GNOME desktops is to run the command switchdesk from the terminal windows.
If u want to change ur windows manager from the terminal, all u have to do is open the Xclinets file inur terminal windows and add a single line there in order to change the windows manager that will open by default .Once u have have opened the Xclients file in ur text editor,just add a single line that says usr/X11R6/bin/Runwm.'yourwindowsmanager'.Replace ''yourwindowsmanager' with one of ur choice either window maker or after step or Enlightenment.u need to have window managers installed and runnning
killing an X session
it is possible that a KDE or Gnome session might crash, so in such cases u can kill X session and get the login prompt by using ctrl+alt+ backspace.
